I live in a small town, a half an hour away from a GameStop in another small town, and my CSR lady experience could not have been more opposite. Those 3rd party cables DO work but they don't fit comfortably. I recommend the Sony ones because the cable is thicker and the connector fits properly unlike the third-party cables I've tried. The Gamestop in downtown New York City, for fuck's sake, didn't have one, and according to the dumbshit CSR it's because "it's not really that popular" like I wanted to fucking hear her commentary when I'm just trying to buy a fucking charging cable.Īnyway, I personally just bought two official Sony cables off Amazon that were priced down to ten bucks 2 days ago.

I had difficulty finding one at a brick & mortar store.

I have never not seen one in the Vita accessories section of any major game retailer. How is it tricky? I replaced mine by going into a GameStop and spending $10 for a new one. This is disheartening, since in 5 years time replacing a regular USB would be no big thing, but replacing a proprietary nonsense cable like this is gonna be tricky. An Amazon review of the official replacement cable indicates this ain't an isolated incident, and if you twist it ever so slightly the plastic splits and exposes the cable within.

The USB end of my charging cable has frayed to shit, despite me taking the utmost care of it.
